What is the work that is taking place?
There are two separate projects taking place on the Bury line; a project to refurbish some of the lifts, and another project to improve the actual stops.
When is the work starting on the Bury line?
The lift works started on Monday 6th June.
The stop improvement works started on Monday 13th June.
The programme of stop improvement works is staged so not all the stops will be done at the same time.
Why are you doing the work?
This is the final stage of the Stop Improvements Project. The Altrincham line was completed in 2009 and the Eccles line last year.
The stops are being enhanced in order to provide an improvement in the attractiveness of the waiting facilities for our customers, and to help reduce the number of reported crimes and incidents at the stops which will in turn make our customers feel safer. The improvements will also assist in obtaining the Safer Tram Stop Award for all the stops.
What is the Safer Tram Stop Award?
The Safer Tram Stop Award is a national award administered by ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) and managed locally by the Greater Manchester Police. Its aim is to reduce the opportunities for criminal and anti-social behaviour from taking place at tram stops.

When are the works likely to end?
Works are contracted to be finished in spring 2012.
Why are you demolishing the waiting room at Bury?
The waiting room is rarely used by our customers, and is an attraction for anti-social behaviour. There will additional seating installed at Bury.
Why are your contractors using spaces at my car park?
Our Contractor needs a certain amount of space to store equipment whilst they carry out the works. We have endeavoured to keep this to track side space which does not impact on our customers. Unfortunately this hasn't been possible at all stops, and so we have had to use a number of spaces in the car park, which we have kept to an absolute minimum.
I am in a wheelchair; will I still be able to access my stop?
The majority of the works taking place will not affect the accessibility of the stops; however some lifts are being refurbished.
