To make sure we adopt a 'good neighbour' approach to building the new lines, the construction team will work to the Metrolink Code of Construction Practice (COCP). The COCP aims to minimise disruption and to make sure safety procedures are followed. It covers noise, working hours, pollution and other activities which may affect local residents and businesses.

In addition to the COCP, GMPTE has also put in place Tree and Habitat Replacement and Aftercare Policies for the Metrolink extensions. This is to ensure that more trees are planted than removed and any woodland, wetland or other habitat of high nature conservation value lost as a result of new lines is replaced.
