This 14 mile (22.5km) extension to Oldham and Rochdale will leave the Bury Metrolink line just outside the city centre and breathe new life into an abandoned railway corridor to Central Park in New East Manchester. Here it will join the existing Oldham Loop line between Manchester, Oldham and Rochdale, which will be converted for Metrolink use.

New stops will also be built at Monsall, Central Park, South Chadderton, Freehold, Oldham Mumps, Shaw & Crompton, Newbold and outside Rochdale train station. Over 250 free parking spaces for customers will also be available at sites along the line.
Please note that stop names are subject to confirmation.
Construction work on the Oldham and Rochdale line is due to start in early 2009. The Oldham Loop Line will close after the last train on Saturday 3rd October 2009. The new Metrolink line will then open as far as Central Park in spring 2011, Oldham Mumps in autumn 2011 and Rochdale in spring 2012.
