The 1.7 mile (2.7 km) extension to St Werburgh's Road in Chorlton will run south from Trafford Bar along the abandoned railway corridor.

New stops will be built at Firswood, Chorlton-cum-Hardy and St Werburgh's Road. A new depot will also be built at Trafford Bar, where some of the new trams will be stored.
Please note that stop names are subject to confirmation.
Construction work on the South Manchester Line to Chorlton is due to start in April with the line opening in spring 2011. The new Trafford Depot will also open in spring 2011.

Work will start to install permanent drainage down the length of the cutting and we will continue to develop the depot site to prepare it for the construction of the new buildings. Elsinore Road will also be closed. |
