Work is underway to level the depot site. This will involve breaking up the existing concrete slabs using excavators and hydraulic equipment. The slabs will be crushed on-site so the material can be recycled and used during the construction of the new depot. Measures will be taken to minimise noise and dust, for example using silencers where possible, minimising movement of material and dampening down materials with water.
MPact-Thales, our main contractor, will also be setting up a temporary site compound to provide the main site offices for staff working on the construction of the South Manchester Metrolink line and Trafford Depot.
