The scheme starts on Monday 28 September at the Waterside car park which is opposite the Sale Metrolink stop and easily accessible from the M60. Tickets, which are bought in the car park, cost £6 and includes all-day parking for one car and a return Metrolink journey for one person to Manchester city centre.
Philip Purdy, Metrolink Director, said: ’We’re always keen to improve the services and facilities that are available to Metrolink passengers and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to work with our private sector partner, Q-Parks, to introduce this new Park and Ride scheme.
’Metrolink passengers can expect to see further improvements in local services as we continue to refurbish stops and introduce new trams and ticket machines.’
The Q-Park car park, off Broad Street in Sale, is secure, well-lit and offers 440 spaces.
Managing Director of Q-Park, Adam Bidder said: ’We have seen across Europe that it is important to provide alternative parking solutions to our customers, and by working with Metrolink we’re pleased to be able to extend that choice to customers in Sale.’
The Parking Host at the Sale Q-Park was recently short-listed for the title of Best Parking Person of the Year by the British Parking Association, a highly prestigious award.
