How do I buy a season ticket?

  • You can buy a printed weekly, 4-weekly, or annual season ticket from ticket machines on platform or from any Travelshop. Weekly and 4-weekly season tickets are also available at any Paypoint outlet. You need to have a valid Metrolink Travel Club ID card to purchase 4-weekly or annual season tickets.
  • Membership is free and lasts for five years.
  • Your Metrolink Travel Club ID card must be shown along with your printed ticket during inspections or when requested by Metrolink staff. 
    7-day and 28-day Travelcards are now available through the get me there app. You do not require a Metrolink Travel Club ID card when buying via the app. Visit getmethere.co.uk for more information.

Where can I buy my season ticket?

  • You can buy or renew your 4-weekly or annual season ticket online here
  • Weekly, 4-weekly or annual printed season tickets can be purchased from ticket machines on platform, any Travelshop or by calling 0161 789 5866
    Travelshops are located at all major bus stations and provide information about, and sell most bus and Metrolink season tickets (National Express coach tickets are also available at certain locations). Up to the minute information about all local bus, local train and Metrolink services is also provided.
  • Weekly and 4-weekly printed season tickets can also be purchased at any PayPoint outlet
    There are literally hundreds of PayPoint outlets throughout Greater Manchester from which you can buy Metrolink season tickets, just click on the link below to find your nearest one.

Can I use my season ticket immediately?

  • You must have your Metrolink Travel Club ID card with your printed ticket at all times.  7-day and 28-day travelcards are now available through the get me there app. You do not require a Metrolink Travel Club ID card when using the app. Visit getmethere.co.uk for more information.

When can I use my season ticket?

  • Anytime!
  • You can use your season ticket for as many journeys as you want while it is in date, including Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays (except Christmas Day!), and at any time of the day, between the stops you specify.
  • So why not take advantage of it for nights out or weekend leisure trips?
  • If you want to make a special trip beyond your usual stops as specified on your ticket please call Metrolink Customer Services on 0161 205 2000 and they will explain how you can ensure you buy an appropriate ticket from the ticket machines before starting your journey.
What happens if I lose my ticket?
  • There are no refunds for any period tickets other than annual tickets. In the event of loss of an annual ticket, proof of purchase will be requested before a refund can be considered at TfGM's discretion. 

What about child tickets? - Parents of U-16s

  • Child Season Tickets are available to anyone in possession of an igo pass which allows children under the age of 16 years to travel at the concessionary fare.
  • You will need to take your child's igo pass with you at the time of purchase. For more information on acquiring an igo pass please visit the igo website.
  • Located in hundreds of outlets throughout Greater Manchester, with many offering extended opening hours, you can now buy your child's season tickets more than 3 days in advance from hundreds of PayPoint outlets - almost wherever and whenever you choose!

 

What happens if I travel on a Metrolink tram without a valid ticket?
  • Metrolink customers must buy a ticket before boarding their tram. Anyone found travelling without a valid ticket will be issued with a standard fare of £100 which must be paid within 21 days. This charge will be reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days. If the standard fare is not paid, Metrolink will seek prosecution through the Magistrates’ Court where costs will increase. REMEMBER - We continually carry out ticket inspections. Anyone found travelling without a valid ticket will be liable for the " Standard Fare " which could cost you up to £100 or lead to prosecution.
